GILBERT CHAMBER NAMES ADELAIDA SEVERSON OF BUSHTEX, INC.
AS 2012 BUSINESS WOMAN OF THE YEAR

Award Ceremony and Luncheon Honored Four Nominees, Presented by San Tan Learning Center

GILBERT – The Gilbert Chamber of Commerce named Dr. Adelaida Severson, owner and CEO of Gilbert-based Bushtex, Inc., as the 2012 Business Woman of the Year at an award ceremony and luncheon on January 23rd.

“Adelaida is the truest example of a business woman invested in the growth of her community, especially when it comes to the education and development of Gilbert’s youth,” said Kathy Tilque, president and CEO of the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce.

Severson has served as a member of the Gilbert Public Schools Governing Board, is a co-founder of the Parent Legislative Action Network (PLAN), and is a current board member of the Gilbert Education Foundation (GEF). She is a graduate of the Chamber’s Gilbert Leadership program and has served on the program’s Board of Directors. Recently, Dr. Severson served as the on-camera personality for the Chamber’s marketing video to promote executive housing in Gilbert.

Under Severson’s leadership, Bushtex, Inc. was recognized by Comerica Bank as an ‘Arizona Company to Watch’ in 2009. Bushtex, Inc. was instrumental in transmitting coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympics to the United States and has transmitted other national and international events.

“Anyone who knows Adelaida can’t help but be inspired by her leadership style and poise,” Tilque said. “Her influence on our community is far reaching.”

The Business Woman of the Year luncheon is organized by the Chamber’s What Women Want…In Business event committee. Nominations are submitted to the committee’s review panel for scoring and selection.

Additional nominees for 2012 Business Woman of the Year included Debra Cherry, Assistant Vice President and Division Manager on behalf of Parkway Bank; Mai-Lin Garcia, owner of Synergy HR Solutions; and Rita Sippel, co-founder of San Tan Learning Center.

Previous award recipients are Pam Nenaber of Banner Health (2011) and Gayle Schmidt, owner of Buffalo Wild Wings (2010).
