Gilbert-Based Satellite Communication Company Honored with Prestigious Award

(Gilbert, AZ) – Bushtex Inc., a Gilbert-based, global satellite communications provider, was named one of Comerica Bank’s “Arizona Companies to Watch.” The awards, which serve to honor excellence in the often overlooked category of second-stage companies, recognizes privately held Arizona-based businesses that employ 6 to 100 full-time employees and contribute $750,000 to $100 million in annual revenue to our local economy. 30 local companies out of over 400 entries were chosen for the prestigious honor.

As a specialized communications provider built on the tenets of quality, responsiveness and clarity, Bushtex Inc. was recognized for their widespread capabilities in transmitting satellite signals to and from remote areas of the world in critical, high-alert situations. In addition to their proficiency in satellite transmission, Bushtex Inc. was celebrated for their role in several groundbreaking projects, including facilitating the data transmission from an airplane to various federal agencies on behalf of the U.S. Coast Guard, which was the first ever unmanned aerial vehicle flight transmission in history. They are also involved with broadcasting many high level sports, entertainment, and news events around the world, including the Winter and Summer Olympic Games since 1996, Presidential election and party convention coverages, and high conflict war zones to television networks worldwide in real time.

“We are deeply honored to be recognized for our commitment to excellence in the satellite industry,” beamed Adelaida V. Severson, Ph.D., President of Bushtex Inc. “A huge part of our success can be attributed to our unique company culture. We ensure that every job is done with integrity, honesty and efficiency, and strive to give all our clients the best quality of service and product without any hassle. It’s also very fulfilling to be honored by your peers.”

In addition to their innovative satellite transmission techniques, Bushtex was also lauded for their activism in community-based involvement and philanthropic contributions. Severson is heavily involved in a number of education-based initiatives, including the Gilbert Education Foundation, the Gilbert Leadership Program and the New Directions Institute for Early Infant Brain Development. She is also an active member of the ASU Walter Cronkite School of Journalism alumni, having lent her expertise as a guest lecturer and serving on their prestigious Cronkite National Board of Advisors.

“Just as much as the community has given to us, I feel it’s important to be equally as conscious in giving back,” added Severson. “Bushtex is deeply rooted in developing the minds of our community through education and instruction, and one of our missions is to ensure that everyone—no matter where they come from—receives that adequately.”

Founded in 1994 by husband and wife team Barry and Adelaida Severson, Bushtex specializes in the development and research of domestic and international satellite communications transmission to remote parts of the world. With a re-structuring in 2003, they’ve grown to include an adept force of experienced video, audio and satellite engineers, technicians and cameramen who specialize in satellite communication. Bushtex is committed to capturing the pivotal and historical events of our lifetime with clarity and accuracy, while operating on the principles of professionalism, hands-on-knowledge and integrity.

“We are truly blessed to be growing at a time when many companies are pulling back,” notes Severson. “Barry and I still love offering personal contact to both our clients and employees. We’ve grown with great crews on the ground and excellent word-of-mouth referrals. And as we move toward working more with government entities, we are proud to excel outside of the Beltway in an extremely competitive industry.”
